Top Reads 2007

I read over fifty books this year. These are the stories that I found to be compelling or entertaining or hysterical. Sometimes all three.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows/JK Rowling
Into the Wild/Jon Krakauer
Little Children/Tom Perrotta
Peter Diamond series/Peter Lovesey
Notes on a Scandal/Zoe Heller
Eat, Pray, Love/Elizabeth Gilbert
The Golden Compass/Philip Pullman

Hell yeah. I got three of those under the belt this year too. Perotta is excellent at making you sympathize with people behaving badly and/or people who aren't particularly sympathetic to begin with, so there's that.

The Golden Compass was so good, i can hardly bear to watch the movie for fear of how they fucked it all up.

and quite simply, best harry potter ever. the wife and i actually bought two copies so we could each read at the same time. we read in different rooms and finished the book in one day. we read in separate rooms so as to not give anything away.
